Meet the Judges

Our three judges for this years' Tauranga Crossing Fashions in the Field know their stuff. Not only do all three have a love of fashion, but they all also love racing and respect the tradition of Fashions in the Field. They're excited to be part of this event and look forward to seeing some stunning outfits at the Bayleys International Raceday on Saturday 27 March.

Let's meet the judges!

Jason Davies
Jason Davies is the co-owner of the highly successful and internationally recognised salon A.DO, located in Second Avenue Tauranga. This incredibly busy, multi-award-winning hairdresser has been creating fabulous hair for the last 30 years, an influential business owner for the last 24 years and has been on the judging panel for Racing Tauranga’s Fashions in the Field for the last 14 years -since 2006.
Jason’s salon and the award-winning team were selected as finalists in 2018 for ‘Best Salon Design’ for the prestigious Australasian Hair Expo Awards and the 2019 Colour Zoom Awards. As one of the Creative Directors of Design for Tarnished Frocks & Divas 2019, this year, once again, Jason brings his wealth of experience and an exceptional eye for design and fashion to our judging panel line-up for this year’s Fashions in the Field!

Janelle Burnside
Janelle is no stranger to Fashion in the Fields with creating outfits and entering competitions all around New Zealand and in Australia for the past 4 years. She has been very successful, qualifying for the National Finals twice and making it into the Top 5 at Ellerslie.
She has won numerous sashes and prizes for her outfits, and highlights include winning Overall Supreme at Wellington Cup 2019 (winning a trip to Europe/UK) and winning her first International sash in Australia last year.
Janelle also writes a Racing Fashion NZ Blog about her fashion adventures, which promote the sport and get more people involved in the fun!
While creating outfits and entering is her first love, Janelle is excited to explore the other side of Fashion in the Fields with Judging and MC-ing events.

Sarah Rudkin
During the day, Sarah kicks ass as an employment law consultant but in the evenings can be found browsing her fav luxury fashion sites – Matches Fashion, Net-a-Porter and Shop Bop. Sarah has a keen eye for different and interesting pieces that she picks up from all over the globe and has a passion for slow, high-quality luxury fashion.
Having part ownership in two racehorses keeps Sarah invested in the industry, and she loves the opportunity to attend events combining her love of fashion and horses. As Sarah says, “fashion to the races is like the gin to my martini – they go hand in hand”.
