A well-coordinated outfit, attention to detail and accessories should complete a great overall look. Millinery is a must. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. Tauranga Crossing Contemporary Racegoer: Cocktail meets daywear, this category showcases a more playful, modern raceday style. Fascinators, headbands and shorter hems are all acceptable. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. Winner’s prize pack includes a $500 voucher from Tauranga Crossing.
Tauranga Crossing Best Dressed Man: Style and personality. This category is for the gents. Whether you embrace the traditional suit and tie or put your own modern twist on men’s race wear, your ensemble should be well put together, thoughtful and show off your “mojo”. Attention to detail is key from shoes to tie to wristwatch. Hat is optional. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. The winner’s prize pack includes a $500 voucher from Tauranga Crossing.
Additional Categories Details
Bernina Design Award: Open to all amateur designers. If you have sewn your outfit you are eligible to enter the Bernina Design Award. This award is judged separately and does not impact your participation in other categories. The winner receives a voucher for a new Bernina sewing machine.
Belinda Green Millinery Outstanding Headwear Award: This award is judged across all categories and recognises the contestant with the most eye-catching raceday headwear. The winner receives a voucher from Belinda Green Millinery.
Tauranga Crossing Supreme Winner: Overall supreme winner judged from the winners of all categories. The prize includes a $1,000 voucher from Tauranga Crossing.
Judging Criteria:
• Appropriateness of the outfit for the category, event and season.
• Originality and confidence.
• Attention to detail with accessories.
• Appreciation of current fashion trends.
• Grooming and deportment.
• Headwear (Millinery is mandatory for the Classic Racewear category).
Timeline:
• Pre-registration until 4pm Friday 26 March
• On the day registration will be open from 11.15 up until the first race.
• All pre-registered contestants must still check-in prior to Race 1.
• Heats start immediately after Race 1.
• The Supreme Winner will be announced prior to the Feature Race (Ultimate Mazda Japan Trophy).
• Registration and the competition are both being held on The Terrace in the Silson Stand.
• Times may change and contestants will be notified but are solely responsible for being on time for their category heats and finals.
